The geometric gilded pattern is also inspired by Edward Wadsworth’s ‘Dazzle’ ship paintings. Wadsworth was an English artist, most famous for his close association with Vorticism. In the First World War, together with Norman Wilkson, he was involved in transferring dazzle camouflage designs onto ships for the Royal Navy in order to 'surprise and dazle' the enemy before the invention of radar.
